Was it a surprise to see fantasy football favourites Chelsea Lose? Of course it is always a surprise to see them lose. Today saw Birmingham beat Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a goal from Lee Bowyer who we predicted to play and were not surprised to see him score after 17 minutes.
The media have made a lot of the sacking of Ray Wilkins being sacked but in my opinion Ancelotti is not a strong enough character to manage Chelsea. He lacks the ability to make key decisions that can change a game and has also allowed too many players such as Ballack, Cole, Carvalho and Deco to leave Chelsea without replacing them. The only difference now is Chelsea are missing key defenders such as Terry and now Alex.
But let’s look at the serious question – Is it time to drop your Chelsea Players?
I made the decision to drop Ashley Cole and play Liam Ridgewell of Birmingham in his place.
The Chelsea Defence
How can a team go from being impossible to score against to not being able to keep a clean sheet?
Well the simple answer is they have a few injuries and cannot handle when teams play two strikers against them. We saw Sunderland do it last week and now Birmingham today. So let’s look at their next few games.
* Gameweek 15 Newcastle (A)
* Gameweek 16 Everton (H)
* Gameweek 17 Tottenham (A)
* Gameweek 18 Man Utd (H)
* Gameweek 19 Arsenal (A)
Verdict: Sell Your Chelsea Defenders
What about Drogba and Malouda?
Well the way I would look at it is they are really expensive and with the exception of Newcastle they will struggle to score many goals. Even if they play well they will not score a lot of fantasy points.
